How to make bootable USB

Windows 8 Consumer Preview (aka beta) is finally out and I figured I'd wipe my hard drive clean and install the new Windows.

This is how to make bootable USB drive that can start your computer and install Windows.
Typically installing Windows from USB is much faster (I'll demonstrate how fast later), so do this and save yourself some time.

Here we go.

1. Get a copy of Windows. DVD or image file. I just downloaded the iso file, so I'll use it.

2. Go to http://wintoflash.com/download/en/ and download the latest WinToFlash.
Yea, get that one.

3. Insert Windows DVD or mount the image file.

4. Plug in your USB flash memory. Typically it should be 8GB or larger. I just made one with Windows 8, and it's a little over 4GB. The following steps will wipe your USB flash memory clean, so make sure you don't have anything important on your flash memory.

5. Unzip the downloaded file and start WinToFlash.exe and click the green check mark
That green check mark
6. Then, click next.

7. Specify where Windows DVD is and where the USB drive is. Click next.
I:\ for Windows 8 and L:\ for Flash on my computer
8. Accept the license agreement and continue.

9. When the warning message appears, think about what's on your flash drive again. If you're sure it's ok to format it, click continue. It starts the process, and it takes about 10 minutes.
It's working
10. Once it's done, your USB drive is equivalent to Windows DVD.
